How to Earn Money: Ebates

Today, I want to talk to you about a way to save and earn money. For those that know me or have been following me for awhile, you know I HATE paying full price. A lot of times I wait for a sale, a coupon code, or free shipping to purchase an item. I'm always looking for coupon codes and shopping around to see who has the best deal. Ebates has been a one stop shop for me lately, it has helped me save but most importantly, earn money while shopping. Who doesn't like the sound of that? If you're unfamilar with Ebates you probably think I'm crazy. I remember when I heard about it I kind of thought it was a scam and that there had to be more to it but it's really simple because who gives you money for shopping. Before I give you the information I just want to let you know that this is NOT a sponsored post. I'm not that special. I just wanted to give you this information.

Let's get to the basics:

What is Ebates? Ebates is a website that will give you a percentage back of the total you have spent. They also provide coupon codes if, there are any available. A win-win in my book. Ebates is able to do this because they get a percentage from each person that uses their website and actually makes a purchase. Stores/companies are paying them for directing people to their website. From the percentage they get they give us a small percentage of cash back as an incentive to go through Ebates first.

How to use Ebates: It's simple. First, sign up for an account(you'll need an email and set a password). Once you have an account you'll be ready to go. Let's say I want to get a couple things from  Ulta, Right now until May 18th you'll get 16% off of your online purchase at Ulta along with 150 more stores because they're celebrating their sweet 16. Below are screen shots of the website. The $9 in the left hand corner is how much money I have pending so far.

In the search bar type the name of the store you're looking for. It'll also show you the percentage of cash back that you'll be getting.

When that page opens it'll take you to what is above. Right now there is a 20% coupon at Ulta. Ebates provides you with the coupon code. When you're ready to go to the website click shop now.

Once you have clicked on shop now you will be directed to your website. You shop and check out like you normally would. Your cash back is normally in your account by the next day.

Pretty simple right?

I discovered Ebates about a year and a half ago. I remember being so upset because I found out about it at the end of December when I had already finished all my Christmas shopping which, by the way was all done ONLINE! I was so mad that I missed out on so much cash back! This past Christmas I made sure to use Ebates for all my online purchases. I ended up getting $149 back! The great thing about the website is that it has all kinds of retailers from Sephora, Ulta, Converse, Walmart, Target, Forever 21, but also Ebay and Amazon. There have been a couple of times where I haven't seen the store I was shopping at but not that often.

A couple months ago I posted my Simple human Mirror that retails for $200. I was able to get it for $25!.  A lot of you asked me how I did it and the answer was Ebates! With the cash back and a little bit of savvy shopping (20% coupon) all I paid out of pocket was about $25.   Ebates will either mail you you a check every quarter (as long as it is a minimum of $5) or direct deposit it to your Paypal (which is what I do). Once the money is in your Paypal account you can always transfer it to your bank account. I usually just leave it there since I shop online pretty frequently. It's nice to get things for what feels like for free since the money is not coming out of my bank account.

Why you should use Ebates:
 Even if you don't shop online regularly I would recommend that you sign up for ebates. Why not get a little bit of cash back from every transaction. Sometimes it's only cents but those cents add up at the end of the quarter.

I almost forgot to mention. If you are a new member you get a $10 bonus or gift card with your first purchase of $25 if it is within 90 days of becoming a member.
